Switch Calculator: What do you save with DKV InstantFuel?
You currently use a plastic fuel card and are considering switching to DKV InstantFuel? We compute migration overhead, parallel-running cost and your break-even date — in 60 seconds, directly in your browser.

Your switching roadmap
- Step 1 — Create a DKV InstantFuel account. 5 minutes in the dashboard, add a corporate credit card. No credit check, no contract.
- Step 2 — Pilot with 2–3 drivers. Run a week in parallel with the existing fuel card. Verify receipts in the dashboard and test DATEV export.
- Step 3 — Cancel the existing fuel card. In writing to the provider, effective at the end of the notice period. Copy to accounting.
- Step 4 — Roll out to the full fleet. Invite remaining drivers, collect old plastic cards, transition the accounting routine.
Indicative example calculation. Real migration outcomes depend on fleet setup, contract terms and internal onboarding pace. Not legal or tax advice.
How we calculate
The switch calculator differs from a pure TCO comparison because it includes the one-off migration cost honestly — and from that derives the real break-even point. Only then do you know when the switch actually starts saving money.
Recurring savings
Current cost (card fee × drivers) + (fuel spend × transaction fee) minus DKV InstantFuel flat rate (€2.49 per driver). For a typical 5-driver fleet with €2,300 fuel spend this yields €15–€30/month, i.e. €180–€360 per year.
One-off migration cost
Two items: the parallel-run period (1 month of duplicate card fees during transition) and internal setup effort (4 h × hourly rate for onboarding, cost centres and DATEV mapping). Usually under €200 in practice.
Break-even point
Migration cost / monthly savings = months to break-even. Add notice period and you get the date from which the switch is net positive. For typical fleets that lands at 4–8 months — significantly faster for larger fleets.
Sources and assumptions
- Provider defaults: publicly available 2026 price sheets from DKV, Aral, UTA, Routex, Shell.
- Setup effort 4 h: mean from 12 documented migration projects with PACE pilot customers (2024–2025).
- Notice periods: standard 3 months to end of quarter/year — special cases possible, check your contract.
